Throughout the history of athletics, numerous track race walking events were officially recognized before gradually disappearing from international competition. Many of these distances remained in use only for a limited period, resulting in relatively few officially ratified world records before the events were discontinued.
This page brings together the world record progressions of these discontinued men’s track race walking events, preserving their historical significance in a single reference. Although most record progressions contain only a handful of performances, they illustrate the evolution of race walking before the standardization of the modern championship distances. Together, these events form an important part of the history and development of race walking.
